Tall arrows, crafted in steel by sculptor Charles Smith and accented with bands of Comanche red, yellow and blue, are falling into place across the Texas Plains. By the end of October 2011, ten of Smith’s roadside arrows were standing at various sites -- all places with ties to Chief Quanah Parker and his people or other Plains tribes. By October 2012, arrows cast their shadows over sites in more than 20 counties, including some counties with more than one arrow. By October 2014, the number of arrows was 80.
