A group gathered December 19, 2010,
at the Pease River Battlefield marker northeast of Crowell to make the trek down to nearby Mule Creek. On the sandy south bank of the spring-fed creek, close to the shallow river, 
running clear and calm,
Don Parker, Lance Tahmahkera, Lane Tahmakera and Juanita Pahdopony, all descendants of Cynthia Ann and her son, Chief Quanah, gathered to mark the day with a sacred ceremony, including the burning of dried juniper, the singing of songs in Comanche and the sharing of
dried meat.
